YOGA
Mind Body and Spirit Connection
While there is a wide variety of yoga styles and asana practices, all of yoga has some common agreement.
Yoga, in a western sense is usually associated with Hatha Yoga, or an asana practice to stretch and strengthen the body while relaxing and calming the mind & spirit.
There are many disciplines of yoga emphasizing different aspects or combination's of how the balance of mind, body, and spirit can be attained.
There are four main yogas:
- Karma Yoga—The path of dynamic action and service to humanity, detached work.
- Jnana Yoga (Nyana)—The yoga of knowledge and decernment
- Bhakti Yoga—The path of devotion. Includes Kirtan CHant
- Hatha Yoga—The yoga of postures and breathing excersises.
- Raja Yoga—The path of meditation and self control.
- Tantra Yoga—The yoga of integrating polarities.
One common aim of yoga is to achieve a state of balance and harmony between mind and body, bringing healing and transformation to all levels of who we are.
Fun for the Whole Family
CircusYoga is an invitation. Artfully designed to engage all ages, CircusYoga blends
the consciousness of yoga with the communal celebration of circus.Throughout our lives, we tend to be grouped with others close to our own age, and, as a result, often end up learning mostly from our peers. In CircusYoga, however, we pool our resources and become a tribe of life-long learners and teachers discovering balance, joy, courage, agelessness and appropriate risk.
This diversity makes CircusYoga a rich experience—everyone benefits as the wisdom of age collaborates with the energy of youth. And transformation happens as all ages practice together and build self-confidence, focus, trust and teamwork.
We invite parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents to participate with their kids, and welcome anyone aged 7 and up. This includes adults without kids. Teachers, yoga instructors, circus educators, family social workers and occupational therapists all gain new techniques applicable to their own work and play.
